Floorboards Have Gaps

We had the same issue with our floors, we have recently installed a new floor over the top as after 5yrs of draughts & having to use a toothpick to flick out the dirt i n the gaps enough was enough, super happy now though!!. Engineered hardwood flooring is designed to minimize gaps due to expansion and contraction of the wood. but to answer a common question: yes, it can still have gaps. gapping in engineered hardwood can be due to many factors, including (but not limited to) the material's manufacturing, changes in. Stopgap will seal gaps that are 1-8mm wide. please note: stopgap is not suitable for tongue and groove boards due to the shape of the gaps in this type of flooring. have a look at this post to find out which floorboards you have..

Gaps in floorboards. hi...i have just moved and floorboards have some gaps...could i just get a good underlay and carpet or lino or would the gap marks appear. thanks. asked by: grainne_71 12th nov 2015. 3 answers. best answer. generally the best thing to do is to lay plywood on the floor to give you a better flooring surface.. Seems to work ok, i.e. the draughts have stopped, sometimes need to push it back into place as assume movement of floorboards occasionally moves the stuff in bigger gaps, also looks like we may need to hover along at some point as dust/dirt accumulates on the product over time..
